A team of 31 runners from across the UK have raised £80,000 for Brain Tumour UK by crossing the finish line of the 2011 Virgin London Marathon.
Among the runners was actor Luke Allen-Gale, 25, who stars in Monroe, ITV’s latest medical drama. Luke was running in memory of his nan, who had a brain tumour.
In 2010 IT consultant John Stanford set himself the challenge of running 17 marathons in one year and raised over £10,000 for Brain Tumour UK in honour of his friend and colleague who has a brain tumour.
Jenny says: "The London 10k is a fantastic experience. I was running in memory of my Dad, and all my family and friends sponsored me. They were happy to do so because my Dad lived in Australia, and we in the UK hadn't been able to say goodbye to him.

My name is Kate Murray and I’m 56 years old. Virgin London Marathon 2012 will be my first marathon run. I’m running it as a tribute to my husband, James. We met just after I celebrated my 40th birthday and within a couple of years we were married and had a son, Andrew. We were a very happy and close-knit family unit. James died in February last year aged just 55.
