“Today, I’m learning a new method of plaTing (sp?) the cells into wells and trying to establish a cell growth curve. A growth curve shows how fast they are growing. We want to experiment on them when they are at the best part of their growth curve, growing at the maximum rate and before they start to die.

"I arrived here almost by accident but it’s absolutely fascinating. We’re having to culture and nurture these nasty cells. If they are in a human being you want to kill them. But to do that, we have to care for them in the laboratory.”
