By donating your time and skills as a Brain Tumour UK volunteer you could provide our major boost to our work. Please take a look at the roles available to our volunteers.
Occasionally, we need help with various things like events, collections, packing, data inputting, envelope stuffing and the like. We need people we can call on an ad hoc basis, as and when we have a need.
Many political and medical issues surrounding brain tumours are often discussed at a strategic level within local government and health authorities. We do not have the capacity to attend all the necessary meetings or influence the relevant people at a local level and therefore need your help in doing this.
Brain Tumour UK has its very own range of beautifully designed Christmas Cards which are a great source of income to us. We are looking for individuals who can promote and sell our 2013 cards in their local communities, raising much needed funds for our work. This may even extend to coffee mornings and other socials, where you might also sell some of our other products such as badges and bangles.
We are very lucky to have supporters who go to great lengths to take part in events such as marathons and similar endurance tests. Given that they are working so hard, we feel it only fair we support them and are looking for people who can cheer them on! Additionally, these are ideal platforms to raise awareness of Brain Tumour UK.
We need people to distribute and monitor our collection boxes in the local community. These may be in local shops, pubs, restaurants, etc.
Street collections are a great way of raising extra income for, and awareness of, Brain Tumour UK. As we like to have as many of these as possible, we need help in organising and co-ordinating collections at a local level.
We are looking for people who are at ease with the general public and not scared to politely ask for money! You will be looked after by a local co-ordinator who will let you know when and where you are needed, for how long and will provide the necessary equipment.
Whilst it is fantastic that so many people raise money for us and want to hear more about us, we simply don’t have the capacity to attend all events. We are looking for confident and enthusiastic people to represent Brain Tumour UK, give speeches and receive gifts on our behalf.
One of our greatest challenges is raising awareness about brain tumours and Brain Tumour UK. You can help us do this by ensuring that our literature is distributed as widely as possible.
We need to raise awareness of Brain Tumour UK and make sure we’re shouting just as loud as everyone else. It is essential that we have as much press coverage as possible so we need people to take photos of and/or write articles about events in their local area.
Following the merger of Brain Tumour UK and The Brain Tumour Charity, we need to review and update the Charity’s safeguarding and child protection / vulnerable adult policies& procedures. We would like a comprehensive check of everything we currently have in place, and if possible, implementation of any changes.
Brain Tumour UK is working towards a world free of the fear of brain tumours. We give help today and provide hope for tomorrow. We do this by delivering breakthrough support, information and research on the path to the cure. We campaign at all levels to raise awareness, and we collaborate with others to improve the lives of everyone affected by a brain tumour.
