Brain Tumour UK Events in Wales

Walking the Talk

1,725 miles were walked on Easter Monday at the start of a 2008 challenge to ‘walk the world’! Brain Tumour UK have joined together with the Ed Evans Foundation to raise awareness of the disease which affects the lives of many people each year.

The Walk the Vale event was organised by the Ed Evans Foundation, which attracted 220 eager walkers, and many eager dogs, who gathered at the Plough & Harrow, Monknash. Some took the 6-mile stroll along the cliff tops to Marcross and others had the longer challenge of 15 miles across to Colwinston and back. Each walker was rewarded at the end with a hearty meal kindly provided by the pub.

The sponsored walk, which is set to raise over £3,000, was the inspiration of Ed Evans who set up his foundation following the diagnosis of his brain tumour in 2001. His brave battle was sadly lost last October but work to raise funds continues in his name.

The Foundation’s next fundraising event is the Annual Ball on 18 April in Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. Tickets are still available from Sue on 01656 890217. More information about the Ed Evans Foundation and their forthcoming calendar of events can be found on www.edevansfoundation.co.uk
