Lisa Connell is a remarkable woman. Diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in August 2006, she has set herself the target of raising £1 million for various brain tumour charities including Brain Tumour UK.
Her fundraising activities have already raised over £3,500 for Brain Tumour UK alone, and her enthusiasm encouraged 18 friends, family and work colleagues to join her in the British 10k Run. To achieve her target of £1 million, she's come up with the truly imaginative idea of Rentadate.
Lisa's website www.rentadateforcharity.com is an auction site where people can bid to go on a date with celebrities and non-celebrities, with all the money going to brain tumour charities. Donatella Panayiotou and Jimmi Harkishin have already been snapped up but other celebrities offering their company include Rowan Bailey from Shipwrecked and the radio/TV presenter Susan Bookbinder.
She has been hugely successful in raising awareness of brain tumours through many radio, TV, magazine and newspaper interviews. Despite the effects of her own brain tumour and the treatment (gamma knife radiotherapy), Lisa continues to be an unstoppable force, enthusing and motivating everyone she meets.

Lisa is an inspiration to so many people – the online running club, Running Bug, have named her one of their official heroes and Lisa’s story moved Becki Moran to raise over £1,000 in one day in an unusual way – read about Becki’s challenge. Becki and her friend, Rich Davy, have continued to raise valuable funds for us.
