Humour, Loyalty, Honesty, Courage are the words I would especially associate with dear Steve.
His determination to win his two year fight with the brain tumour never diminished. He continued to cycle to the gymn even during the chemotherapy, only giving this up when his lack of balance made it impossible. When he could no longer play cricket, he insisted on being there to watch and support his team.
As we all came to terms with Steve's diagnosis and his fight began, we were further shattered to discover that the brother of our very dear friend Catherine, Chris Wallis (also 48 years old) had been given the same diagnosis. Steve and Chris died within months of each other; strong, fit, energetic young men with so much more to do.
This double tragedy has given us all a strong resolve to help in the fight against Brain Tumours and we urge everyone to donate whatever they can to Brain Tumour UK. To date we have raised over £12,500 and we are keeping a running total of all donations in their memory.
The Steve Earl Charity Golf Day has become a successful annual fundraising event and we're already making plans for the 2008 day.
Kathryn, Louise, Rachel and myself miss him dreadfully and feel proud to have been part of his short life.
